Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken & Wings will give away 100 free chicken sandwiches when its Canton location opens Thursday, Oct. 22, at 41439 Michigan Ave.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first 100 people in line each receive a free sandwich with no purchase required, owner Raj Patel confirmed in an email to the Plymouth-Canton Post. The giveaway is first-come, first-served and limited to one sandwich per person, according to the Detroit Free Press.
“We wanted to open the doors by feeding people, not by asking them for anything,” owner Raj Patel said in a press release quoted by the Free Press. “The first 100 people who line up on Thursday get a sandwich on us, no strings attached.”
Patel said he expects a crowd. The company said its chicken is never frozen and its sandwiches are hand-breaded in the restaurant.
The Nashville-style hot chicken chain, founded in 2021 and based in McLean, Virginia, has more than 90 locations nationwide, the Free Press reported. The newspaper described Canton as its fourth Michigan location, joining restaurants in Livonia, Flint and East Lansing.
The menu features sandwiches, tenders, wings, loaded fries and sides. The Canton location also advertises halal-certified tenders and boba tea on its website.
Customers choose from six seasoning and heat options: No Seasoning, No Heat, Mild, Medium, Hot and Angry Hot. The restaurant says Angry Hot requires a signed waiver.
Customers can RSVP on the restaurant’s grand-opening page, but registration is not required and does not guarantee a free sandwich, according to the Free Press. The restaurant’s page offers event reminders and line information and promotes its Flock Rewards program.
Regular business hours begin Friday, Oct. 23, according to Patel’s opening announcement.
