Some Plymouth Township voters will cast ballots at new polling locations on Tuesday, Nov. 3, after the township reduced its voting precincts from 12 to six.
The Plymouth Township Election Commission, a subcommittee of the Board of Trustees, voted in December 2025 to consolidate the precincts ahead of the August 2026 primary. Trustees said the move would reduce the number of election workers needed, according to a voter guide published by Plymouth District Library.
The change means some polling sites now sit outside the boundaries of the precinct they serve. Residents who skipped the August primary may not know where to go.
"Those who did not participate in the August primaries may be unfamiliar with their new polling location ahead of voting day," Shauna Anderson, director of Plymouth District Library, wrote Thursday, Oct. 1. "This is especially important, considering that a number of the updated polling sites are located outside of the new precinct boundaries."
Township residents can check their assigned location on Plymouth Township's precinct map or at the Michigan Voter Information Center website.
City of Plymouth voters land in new Senate district
Redistricting also reshuffled representation for City of Plymouth residents. New district maps, drawn by a statewide redistricting commission and implemented in 2025, moved the city from Senate District 13 to Senate District 5.
Sen. Rosemary Bayer represents District 13, which no longer includes Plymouth. Sen. Dayna Polehanki currently represents District 5 but has filed to run for the 8th District, according to the Detroit Regional Chamber, leaving the District 5 seat open in the November election.
District 5 includes parts of Livonia and all of Canton Township, Garden City, Inkster, Plymouth and Westland.
New voter ID cards reflecting the district change were mailed to affected Plymouth residents in summer 2026.
