City of Plymouth residents who are not yet registered to vote have through Monday, Oct. 19, to register online or have a mailed registration application postmarked for the Nov. 3 general election.

The City of Plymouth's official newsletter announced Monday, Oct. 5, that the deadline applies to anyone not currently registered or who has recently moved into the city. Residents can register through Michigan's online voter portal or by mail. The city’s election notices identify Oct. 19 as the last day for those methods.

Beginning Oct. 20, residents registering for this election must visit the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 201 S. Main St., and bring proof of their current address. Voters must have lived in their city or township for at least 30 days by Election Day, according to Michigan’s registration guidance.

Residents can still register in person through 8 p.m. on Election Day.

What counts as proof of residency

Acceptable documents showing a voter’s name and current address include a Michigan driver's license or state ID, a current utility bill, a bank statement, a paycheck or government check, or another government document, according to the WXYZ voter guide. Digital copies are also acceptable.
