City of Plymouth residents who already returned an absentee ballot can still request a replacement by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
The city said voters can request cancellation of a returned absentee ballot and receive a replacement in person at the Clerk’s Office, 201 S. Main St., according to a city newsletter published Oct. 21. The deadline applies to requests to change a vote after returning an absentee ballot.
The notice applies to City of Plymouth voters ahead of the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election. The request must be written and signed, according to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office. The city’s election notices also specify an in-person written request.
City Clerk Maureen Brodie’s office handles absentee ballot requests at 201 S. Main St. in Plymouth. Deputy City Clerk and Elections Coordinator Sydney Bridgman can also field questions. Voters can call the office at 734-453-1234, ext. 225 or 234.
The state’s deadline also applies to Plymouth Township voters. Township voters who want to confirm their options should contact their own clerk’s office.
Early voting and registration
Early voting for the November general election runs Saturday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
City voters vote at the Plymouth Cultural Center, 525 Farmer St.. Township voters vote at Plymouth Township Hall, 9955 North Haggerty Road, according to the township’s elections page.
Eligible residents who missed the Oct. 19 online and mail registration deadline can register in person at their local clerk’s office through 8 p.m. on Election Day, with proof of residency. Voters must meet the state’s eligibility requirements, including at least 30 days of residency in their city or township by Election Day, according to state registration guidance.
All registered voters in Michigan may vote by mail using an absentee ballot, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Ballots become available 40 days before each election.
Plymouth city voters seeking a replacement should contact the clerk promptly to confirm office hours and submit the required request before the deadline.
