A fundraising gala featuring an Indy car exhibition is coming to St. John's Resort in Plymouth Township on Thursday, Oct. 15, with all ticket proceeds going to Cabrini Clinic, a Detroit free clinic that has served uninsured patients since 1950.
The "Driven to Care" gala runs from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at the resort, located at 44045 Five Mile Road, according to the clinic's event listing. General admission is $150 per person, and a full table of 10 seats costs $1,400. Sponsorships range from $1,000 up to an exclusive $25,000 "Msgr. Clement Kern" presenting sponsor tier. Tickets are available through Zeffy, a platform that charges no fees to nonprofits.
The organization said in its event materials that registration proceeds will help expand free healthcare for uninsured residents across Metro Detroit.
Cabrini Clinic, based in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood, provides free primary care, prescription assistance, mental health services and chronic disease management to adults who lack insurance. The clinic operates under the administrative care of Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan and is led by executive director Elisa Martinez-Alvarez, with Dr. Karl Kolbe serving as volunteer medical director.
Founded by Msgr. Clement Kern at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the clinic describes itself as America's oldest free clinic. Archbishop Weisenburger blessed and rededicated the facility on Oct. 27, 2025, marking its 75th anniversary.
The dress code is semi-formal: black and white attire. The Indy car exhibition serves as the evening's signature attraction, though the clinic has not announced which car or team will be featured.
Sponsorship tiers include Friends of Cabrini ($1,000), Compassion ($2,500), Healing ($5,000), Visionary Support ($10,000) and Community Benefactor ($15,000). The top-tier Kern sponsorship includes welcoming remarks during the program and "Presented By" naming rights on all event materials.
