A free group exhibition at the Arts Warehouse at Cherry Hill in Canton invites residents to see one color through three sets of eyes.

"The Aura of Blue," on display through Aug. 25 at 50755 Cherry Hill Road, features painter Elena Adam, photographer Sylvia Bandyke and painter Sharlene Welton. The show spans a spectrum from luminous blue-white to rich blue-black, with each artist interpreting the color through a different medium.

An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., where visitors can view the work and meet the artists. Admission is free.

The gallery described the show in an Aug. 10 press release as a celebration of one color's expressive range, inviting viewers to see through the artists' individual perspectives. Named works on display include "Erastus's Earth" by Welton, "Tired Angel" by Adam and "Autumn Blues" by Bandyke.

The artists

Adam was born in Sumgait, Azerbaijan, near the Caspian Sea and is a graduate of Moscow State University. Bandyke is a self-taught Michigan photographer whose work layers photography and collage to reframe ordinary scenes into something unexpected. Welton, a Canton resident, has exhibited at galleries throughout the Detroit area since 2015 and is known for vivid fluid acrylics depicting trees, landscapes and people.

The trio previously collaborated on "The Magic of Trees," a group exhibition at the same venue in September 2025 that explored their shared subject through colored pencil, acrylics, mixed media, photography and collage.

The Fine Art Gallery at the Arts Warehouse is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to Canton Township's website. The gallery's programs, events, classes and festivals draw more than 10,000 residents each year.
