Canton Township has scheduled two fall bulk clean-up drop-off events at the Priority Waste yard, 39000 Van Born Road, with tentative dates of Saturday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 17.
Both dates are subject to change. Residents can confirm schedules on the Canton Township Government Facebook page, through the Canton Public Library's clean-up guide or by calling Priority Waste at 586-228-1200.
A previous clean-up held Saturday, Aug. 22 at the same location ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the township's event calendar. Hours for the fall events have not been confirmed.
What you can bring
The clean-up events accept a wide range of household items, according to the township's clean-up guide: home electronics, household construction debris, household trash, metal, aluminum, copper, dirt, brick, concrete, sod, tree branches and all single-stream recycling materials. Yard waste is accepted April through December.
Several items have quantity limits. Motor oil, latex paint and clean antifreeze are each capped at five one-gallon containers. Household and car batteries are accepted with no stated limit. Empty paint cans with lids removed and paint dried out can be dropped off in unlimited quantities, but only on clean-up days.
What's not allowed
Commercial vehicles, dual-wheeled vehicles and trailers with more than one axle are barred from the site. Hazardous waste, oil-based stain or paint and loads exceeding three cubic yards of trash are also prohibited.
Residents who miss the drop-off events can place up to two bulky items, including appliances and furniture, alongside their regular trash cart for weekly curbside pickup through Priority Waste.
