Downtown Plymouth has four major events on the calendar before Halloween, starting with the Fall Festival on Friday, Sept. 11.

The Downtown Development Authority's (DDA) September newsletter, published Sept. 2, previews a busy stretch for the district. The lineup begins with one of the area's biggest annual draws and runs through mid-October.

The Plymouth Fall Festival takes over downtown Friday, Sept. 11, through Sunday, Sept. 13. The three-day event features carnival rides, live music, a craft show, food vendors, a pet show and a car show, according to LittleGuide Detroit. Last year's Fall Festival drew an estimated 81,600 people, the DDA reported in its 2025 impact report. Overall, 1.1 million unique visitors made 4.7 million visits to downtown Plymouth in 2025, spending an average of 88 minutes per visit.

Scarecrows in the Park follows on Friday, Sept. 18, filling Kellogg Park with creative scarecrow displays, according to LittleGuide Detroit. The free exhibit runs through October.

The DDA hosts Downtown Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, from noon to 8 p.m. at Kellogg Park.

Looking into October, the 15th Annual Pumpkin Palooza is set for Sunday, Oct. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in downtown Plymouth.

Streetscape project heads toward 2027

Beyond events, the downtown district is moving closer to a major infrastructure overhaul. The DTP Forward streetscape project, launched in 2025 with design firm SmithGroup, is expected to begin construction in 2027, according to the DDA's project page. Downtown Plymouth confirmed that timeline on its X account Sept. 8.

The current streetscape dates to 1995, with a refresh in 2010. The project gathered public input through three open houses and two community surveys. The first survey drew 871 responses, and a second received about 220 through March 5, according to DDA meeting minutes.

"No decisions have been made because we want everybody to get engaged with the city and look at what our options are," Mayor Linda Filipczak said in February at a DTP Forward open house, as WXYZ reported.

What's ahead

The Plymouth Farmers Market continues Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Gathering on Penniman through Oct. 18. The market is closed during Fall Festival weekend, per the DTP events list.
