Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill opened for the fall season Saturday, Sept. 5. The orchard at 10685 Warren Rd. in Plymouth is serving fresh cider and donuts daily through Nov. 8, according to the Plymouth Orchards website.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The opening was originally set for Aug. 29 but was pushed to Sept. 5, according to the orchard's Facebook page. The orchard was already welcoming visitors over Labor Day weekend, LittleGuide Detroit reported.
Mary Emmett, who founded the orchard in 1977, built it into a working organic farm with wagon rides, a children's animal park, you-pick orchards and live entertainment. A Patch newsletter on Sept. 3 named Plymouth Orchards a top pick for kid-friendly fall activities, citing the animal visits, tractor rides and donuts.
LittleGuide Detroit also reported that the orchard added a new cider mill garden this year featuring fall mums, with pumpkin picking starting in October.
The orchard runs a second location, the Red Shed Market, at 10260 Ann Arbor Rd. in Plymouth. That market is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from Sept. 5 through Nov. 25.
Families looking to host a fall birthday party or group event can rent the enclosed pavilion or Red Apple Barn for three-hour blocks that include wagon rides, donuts, farm animals and pumpkin decorating, according to LittleGuide Detroit. Party packages vary; call 734-455-2290 for details.
Fresh donuts and cider are also available for pre-order at the same number.
Upcoming community events
The Plymouth Fall Festival runs Friday, Sept. 11, through Sunday, Sept. 13, in Downtown Plymouth, with carnival rides, a craft show, a car show, live music and food. Plymouth Orchards and the Red Shed Market remain open daily through the fall.
