Plymouth Township police arrested a 35-year-old Wayne woman on suspicion of robbing an 18-year-old woman at gunpoint at a Shell gas station Sunday, Oct. 11.

The robbery occurred around 7 p.m. at the Shell station at 47373 Five Mile Road near Beck Road, according to police accounts reported by the Detroit Free Press and WXYZ. The victim told officers a woman armed with a black semiautomatic pistol stole her wallet and cellphone, then fled in a black Jeep SUV.

Investigators tracked the suspect and the vehicle to Dearborn later that evening. Plymouth Township police coordinated with the Dearborn Police Department to take the woman into custody in the parking lot of a Dearborn gas station.

Officers recovered the victim's stolen wallet and cellphone along with the suspected firearm, police said.

The investigation extends beyond the Oct. 11 robbery. Evidence recovered during the arrest suggests the suspect may be responsible for multiple other serious crimes across metro Detroit, police said, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Plymouth Township Police Chief James Knittel said in a statement reported by the outlets Oct. 13 that investigators used technology and other techniques to locate the suspect and vehicle quickly. Knittel described the arrest as a coordinated effort with the Dearborn Police Department.

Plymouth Township police said they plan to submit the case to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for review of possible charges.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Sgt. Hayes at 734-354-3234.
