Plymouth's ground game has been a force through two weeks of the 2026 football season, racking up 487 rushing yards behind junior backs Charlie Voden and Xavier Williams.

The yardage wasn't enough to avoid heartbreak on Thursday, Sept. 3. Dearborn Fordson, ranked No. 17 in Michigan, edged the Wildcats 21-20 in a Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) game, according to MLive's scoreboard. The one-point loss dropped Plymouth to 1-1 on the season.

The Wildcats opened with a 40-28 home win over Monroe on Aug. 28, according to a box score from High School On SI. Voden and Williams combined for nearly 300 rushing yards in that opener, the Plymouth Football program said on X after the game.

Against Fordson, the run game picked up steam around the middle of the second quarter and kept rolling, the program said in a Sept. 5 post on X. The account called Voden a dynamic runner who was hitting holes at top speed again in Week 2 and said the team is barely scratching the surface of what it can do on the ground.

The 487-yard rushing total through two games averages out to nearly 244 yards per contest. Individual per-game splits for Voden and Williams have not been published. Both are listed as juniors, meaning Plymouth could have its backfield tandem intact through the 2027 season.

Elsewhere in KLAA action on Sept. 3, Salem topped Novi 26-14 and Northville edged Canton 10-7, according to Detroit News scores.

Plymouth enters Week 3 with a 1-1 record and travels to face Salem on Friday, Sept. 11, according to MaxPreps.
