Plymouth-area commuters heading south on M-39 will need to squeeze into the left lane until Aug. 26.

The right lane of southbound M-39 between Schoolcraft and Plymouth Road is closed through Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m., according to the Michigan Department of Transportation's Metro Detroit office, which posted the work zone alert on Thursday, Aug. 20.

MDOT did not specify the type of work or name a contractor.

The closure is the latest in a string of summer construction activity along the M-39 corridor. On July 27, MDOT reported a moving work crew shutting down the left lane in both directions between I-96 and Ford Road. On Aug. 19, a separate crew closed the right shoulder of southbound M-39 between Michigan Avenue and Rotunda.

No detour has been posted for the current closure. Drivers can check real-time conditions and alternate routes at Michigan.gov/Drive.
