Canton Township families looking for one more free outing before school starts can head to the Village Arts Factory on Friday, Aug. 14, for a Family Science & Art Night featuring hands-on activity stations in art, science and robotics.

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the township-owned facility at 50755 Cherry Hill Rd. Admission is free. Light snacks will be provided, according to the Canton Township calendar.

Families will rotate through stations that combine creativity with STEM learning. Canton Township describes the evening as a way for families to ease into the back-to-school mindset by showing kids how art and science connect.

For questions, families can contact event coordinator Kevin Ryan at [email protected] or call the Village Arts Factory at 734-394-5460.

The Aug. 14 night follows another free STEM event the weekend before: Lightning Robotics' annual Robots in the Park at Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth on Sunday, Aug. 9. The Plymouth-Canton Educational Park student team, which won a world championship in 2017 and has grown to more than 100 members, runs interactive demonstrations for all ages. As we reported July 31, the Kellogg Park showcase is free and open to the public.
