Canton's 17th annual Brews, Brats and Bands returns to Preservation Park on Saturday, Sept. 12, and this year the event carries a new stamp: it's the first to be promoted by the Arts Warehouse at Cherry Hill, the venue formerly known as the Village Arts Factory.
The 21-and-over event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at 500 N. Ridge Road. Tickets are $45 per person and include eight tastings of local craft brews, ciders and seltzers, a grilled brat with fixings, chips, chili cook-off tastings, a pretzel necklace-making station, water, a commemorative keepsake mug and live music. A vegetarian brat option is available. Designated driver tickets are $15.
Space is limited. Tickets can be purchased online at Beerfests.com but may not be available at the door. Schoolcraft College, UBS and Storypoint are sponsoring the event, and organizers suggest bringing a folding chair since seating is limited.
New name, same organizer
The Aug. 18 press release, issued by community program director Kevin Ryan, marks the first time the venue has promoted an event under its new identity. The Partnership for the Arts & Humanities, the nonprofit that operates the space at 50755 Cherry Hill Road, announced Aug. 11 that the Village Arts Factory would become Arts Warehouse at Cherry Hill, a name honoring the building's original use as a warehouse.
As we reported Aug. 12, the rebrand reflects the venue's growth as a creative destination while the same nonprofit continues to run programming that draws more than 10,000 residents each year, according to the Canton Township website.
