The Plymouth Community Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning through October 24 at The Gathering behind Kellogg Park, giving residents a weekly spot to pick up Michigan-grown produce, baked goods, and handmade crafts in the heart of downtown.
The market runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. along Penniman Avenue, according to the Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce. Vendors sell fresh produce, flowers, herbs, fish, meats, cheese, coffee, and artisan crafts. The season opened Saturday, May 9, and the only skip was Saturday, July 11, during Art in the Park weekend.
Canton's market marks 20 years
Across the township line, the Canton Farmers Market is celebrating its 20th season at Preservation Park, 500 N. Ridge Road. That market runs Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Sunday, October 11, rain or shine.
Chelsea Straub, Canton Township recreation manager, said in a July 15 news release that the market's 11th Annual Rally on Ridge fundraiser has become one of the summer's most popular community events. The open-air market features Michigan-grown food and hand-crafted artisan items.
