Plymouth City Commissioners Karen Sisolak and Trish Horstman will host a cider-and-donuts drop-in at Garden Club Park on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The session, called "Cider, Donuts & Dialogue," runs from 10 a.m. to noon and is open to anyone who wants to chat with the two commissioners about what's happening around town. The city's newsletter describes the morning as having no agenda and no formal presentation. Residents can show up, grab a donut and raise whatever is on their mind.

Sisolak has pushed for more direct resident input on city decisions. During the July 20 commission meeting’s discussion over a park sponsorship policy, she told the commission, "Without a Parks Board, we have very little community engagement on this, and little input into how we're planning our parks and how that equity is being managed," as The Plymouth Express reported Aug. 6.

Fall Bug Hunt at PARC

Also Saturday, registered volunteers will gather for Friends of the Rouge’s Fall Bug Hunt. Teams are full, and registration is now closed.

Friends of the Rouge will hold its 2026 Fall Bug Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will meet at the Jack Wilcox Theater inside the Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex (PARC), 650 Church St., before heading to stream sites.

Volunteers search streams in the Rouge River watershed for aquatic insects, crayfish, snails, clams and other creatures. What they find, or don't find, provides information about water quality and habitat health across the Rouge watershed. Friends of the Rouge has run the monitoring program since 1998, according to the organization's website.
