Gary Robinson, a 76-year-old Plymouth native who built a career spanning competitive golf and decades of teaching, has been elected to the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 induction class.

Ferris State University announced Robinson's selection on Tuesday, July 22, alongside former LPGA player Allison Fouch Duncan of Grand Rapids. The two will be honored at a ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Ferris State's Katke Golf Course in the Ken Janke Sr. Golf Learning Center in Big Rapids.

Robinson's resume reads like a tour through Michigan golf history. He was an NAIA All-American at Eastern Michigan University, won the 1986 Michigan PGA Professional Championship, and competed in two U.S. Opens, five Buick Opens on the PGA Tour, and six PGA Professional National Championships.

Off the course, Robinson spent 12 years as head golf professional at Arbor Hills Country Club in Jackson after assistant stints at Tam O'Shanter Country Club in West Bloomfield and Green Ridge Country Club in Grand Rapids. He earned Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year honors in 2002 and works as an instructor and personal coach at Foundation Golf Center in Coldwater.

His most notable student: Brian Stuard, a PGA Tour veteran since 2010 who won the 2016 Zurich Classic of New Orleans and started working with Robinson as a youngster. Stuard has logged more than 650 professional starts across his career.

"Allison and Gary reflect the best of Michigan in playing ability and instruction, and they are highly regarded by their peers because of their impact on others," MGHOF committee chairman Greg Johnson said in the university's announcement.

Robinson's induction will bring the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame's total membership to 145. The hall, housed at Ferris State, counts Walter Hagen, Meg Mallon, and Dan Pohl among its honorees.

Details about the Oct. 25 ceremony at Katke Golf Course are available through the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame website.
