Canton Township families can pitch a tent, grab free popcorn and watch Frozen and Zootopia 2 under the stars at Preservation Park on Friday, July 31.

Canton Parks and Recreation posted an updated listing Tuesday, July 21, confirming the Family Movie Camp Out at Preservation Park, 500 N. Ridge Road in Cherry Hill Village. The event runs in combination with a Cultural Movie Night organized by the Partnership for the Arts, the township's official arts partner at the Village Arts Factory.

Activities begin at 6 p.m. with the double feature screening at dusk. Before the movies roll, families can enjoy themed crafts, free airbrush tattoos, lawn games, free popcorn and visits from Frozen characters Anna and Kristoff.

Pricing and registration

Families who want the full overnight experience pay $40 per tent for Canton residents or $48 for non-residents. Tent setup begins at 5 p.m., and both tents and RVs are welcome. Metal fire rings are available.

For families who want the evening activities and movies only, the cost is $15 per family for Canton residents and $16 for non-residents. A family is defined as two adults and up to five children.

Online pre-registration is encouraged at cantonfun.org/register, though walk-up registration will be accepted on site. Dinner and concession items will be sold Friday evening.
