Mira Renaldi, a Plymouth native and former Canton High School hurdler, earned her first USTFCCCA All-Academic honor in track and field for the 2025-26 academic year, Denison University announced Monday, July 20.

The recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association goes to NCAA Division III athletes who maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA while also meeting national-level athletic performance standards. Renaldi, a rising junior studying biology and psychology at Denison in Granville, Ohio, met both thresholds.

On the track, her sophomore season was a breakout. Renaldi placed third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.57 seconds) and ran on the runner-up 4x400-meter relay (4:00.11) at the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, according to the Denison athletics release. She also picked up 2026 USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor All-Region honors and a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District nod.

Those college times represent a significant jump from her prep career at Canton. Her high school mark of 15.4 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles qualified her for the 2024 MHSAA Division 1 state finals, nearly a full second slower than her college best.

Renaldi was one of two Denison women to earn the individual All-Academic distinction. Recent graduate Sydney Flores of Durango, Colorado, received the honor for the second time.

The Renaldi family has deep roots in downtown Plymouth. Mira's father, Steven Renaldi, who passed away in January 2026, shared her love of the sport and was known for training alongside Canton's cross country runners and cheering at meets.

Both the men's and women's Big Red track and field squads earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status as well. The women posted a team GPA of 3.39; the men came in at 3.30. Head coach Mark Fitzpatrick, who completed his 15th season leading the program this spring, oversaw both squads.
