Ric & Rocky's Family Car Center has been turning wrenches at 543 Amelia St. since early March, bringing a third-generation Canton auto repair shop to Old Village Plymouth's commercial district.

The 6,000-square-foot facility is a full-service car and truck repair shop offering brakes, shocks and struts, suspension work, check-engine diagnostics, alignments, and tire services, according to a profile published July 20 in Canton Today magazine. The shop employs State of Michigan Certified Technicians and is listed in the Plymouth Community Chamber of Commerce business directory.

Owner Ric Cudini, 71, founded the original Ric & Rocky's on North Canton Center Road in Canton more than 15 years ago. His son-in-law, Rocky Johnson, drove the Plymouth expansion after watching the Amelia Street building for two and a half years.

"We looked at this building for two-and-a-half years," Johnson told Canton Today. "It was a great structure with great potential. We are thrilled with how it turned out."

Cudini said the family lived in Plymouth and their children graduated from Salem High School. Johnson and Cudini's daughter Angie were high school sweethearts at Salem and have been married more than 26 years. Cudini, who describes himself as semi-retired, said the expansion was Johnson's vision from the start.

Johnson, a second-generation shop owner, now oversees the Plymouth operation while his 20-year-old son Dominic runs the Canton store at 6206 N. Canton Center Road. Dominic started in the business as a teenager and plans to become the third generation to lead the shop.

"Dominic was two days old when I started working for Ric, and now he runs the Canton store," Johnson said in the Canton Today profile. "This Plymouth store is an extension of our family and it's why we treat everyone like family."
