Plymouth-Canton Community Schools district voters head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 3, to fill four seats on the school board.
Election results are pending. This article will be updated as election officials release vote totals.
Three full-term seats and one partial-term seat are on the ballot in the nonpartisan contest, according to Wayne County’s official candidate list. Voters may choose up to three candidates for the full-term seats and one for the partial-term seat.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, according to the Michigan Secretary of State. Voters in line at their polling place by 8 p.m. can still cast a ballot, according to the state’s Election Fact Center.
Who’s running
Four candidates are seeking the three six-year full-term seats: Aamina Ahmed, a current board trustee; Dan Lemieux; Craig Olzak; and Joe Tollefson, who was appointed to the board in July.
Lester Booker Jr. is the only candidate listed for the partial-term seat, which runs through Dec. 31, 2028, according to the county’s candidate list. That seat opened after former Trustee Sheryl Picard resigned, effective June 11.
The board appointed Tollefson on July 9 to fill Picard’s vacancy through Dec. 31, 2026, according to district meeting minutes.
Olzak, Ahmed, Tollefson and Booker are running together as the “BOAT” slate, according to Olzak’s campaign website.
Sinking fund moved to 2027
The district’s proposed sinking fund will not appear on the November ballot because of a processing error. Trustees agreed to pursue the proposal for the May 2027 election, according to the board’s approved Sept. 22 minutes.
Where to find results
