Plymouth-Canton Community Schools announced Monday, Sept. 21, that Kevin Knierim, who has more than 25 years of experience in education, is the new assistant principal at Plymouth High School on the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park campus.

The Plymouth-Canton Board of Education approved Knierim's hire in a 6-0 vote at its Aug. 4 regular meeting, with an effective start date of Aug. 12.

Knierim comes to Plymouth from Annapolis High School in Dearborn Heights, where he served as assistant principal since 2015. Annapolis is part of Dearborn Heights School District #7 and enrolls about 682 students. Plymouth High, by comparison, serves roughly 1,816 students. It is one of three high schools on the P-CEP campus, alongside Canton and Salem.

The move puts Knierim in a considerably larger building within a district of about 16,083 students across 23 schools.

Before moving into administration, Knierim built a career that spanned teaching, coaching and school leadership. He earned both a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education and a Master of Arts in administration and educational leadership from Central Michigan University.

At Annapolis, his responsibilities included school safety, staff development, instructional programs and family and community partnerships, according to the district's announcement.

He joins Plymouth High Principal Greg Anglin, whose role is confirmed on the district's P-CEP website.

The district's announcement welcomed Knierim to the Educational Park campus and Plymouth-Canton Community Schools.
