Canton will try to erase the memory of a 41-0 shutout when the Cobras host the Plymouth Wildcats on Friday, Sept. 18, at the North Turf.

The two programs share the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (P-CEP) campus in Canton Township. That proximity makes this annual crosstown matchup personal for players, coaches and fans on both sidelines.

Plymouth dominated the last meeting. The Wildcats blanked Canton on Oct. 10, 2025, in a Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) West game. Then-senior running back Ethan Sober rushed for 148 yards that night, and Plymouth's defense recorded sacks from Max Hornbacher, Jordan Green and Isaiah Hooks, according to Social House News.

Canton head coach Eric Newton's squad has spent the offseason trying to close that gap. The Cobras scored only nine touchdowns during the entire 2025 season. Quarterback Dylan Parrish showed progress by leading Canton to a 7-on-7 tournament win in June, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Plymouth head coach Greg Souldourian's Wildcats opened the 2026 season strong. Plymouth beat Monroe 40-28 on Aug. 28.

Canton's football program promoted the Friday matchup on its official X account on Tuesday, Sept. 15, spotlighting two seniors and encouraging fans to attend. Kickoff time has not been announced.

The Cobras adopted their mascot name in December 2023 after the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education voted 5-1 to approve the change. Canton, Plymouth and Salem high schools all share the P-CEP campus and will move together to the Southeastern Conference Red division starting in the 2027-28 school year as part of the KLAA-SEC merger.

Friday's game at the North Turf, P-CEP's north stadium that opened in fall 2025, is the next scheduled contest for both teams.
