A brand-new event called She Moves Plymouth will take over Kellogg Park on Sunday, Aug. 23, adding another free attraction to a busy August calendar in downtown Plymouth.
The Plymouth Downtown Development Authority announced the event in its August newsletter, published Friday, July 31. She Moves runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is organized by Aire Marketing, according to the DTP Special Events List. The DDA has not yet released additional details about what the event will involve.
It's one of three headline events the DDA is promoting for August, alongside the return of Robots in the Park and the final stretch of the free Friday night concert series.
Robots in the Park returns Aug. 9
Lightning Robotics brings its free STEM showcase back to Kellogg Park on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The all-ages event features hands-on engineering and robotics challenges, interactive activities, and information about local robotics programs, according to Plymouth-Canton Community Schools.
A related event, Family Art and Science Night, follows on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cherry Hill Village Art Factory in Canton.
Friday concerts head into final month
The Bank of Ann Arbor Music in the Air series, organized by DDA event coordinator Reiko Misumi-Schelm under Director Sam Plymale, wraps its 14-week run on Friday, Sept. 4. Shows start at 7 p.m. on the Kellogg Park stage at 777 W. Ann Arbor Trail. Blankets and lawn chairs can be dropped off starting at 3:30 p.m.; items left earlier will be removed. Alcohol is not permitted.
The series runs every Friday through Labor Day weekend. Concerts are live-streamed on the Downtown Plymouth YouTube channel, and select shows simulcast on 88.1 The Park.
