Plymouth road crews began milling six city streets Monday, Sept. 14, opening a week of asphalt paving and concrete work across multiple neighborhoods.

Wing, Harding, Maple, Ann Arbor Trail, William and Goldsmith streets are all in line for resurfacing, according to the city's infrastructure newsletter. Milling was scheduled to continue Tuesday, Sept. 15, if crews needed additional time. Asphalt paving on those six streets was anticipated for Wednesday, Sept. 16, with Thursday, Sept. 17, reserved as a backup day.

Separately, crews were expected to begin excavation and aggregate base placement on Joel Street between Sheridan and Ann Arbor Trail on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Concrete work on Joel Street and near Mill and Liberty is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, continuing Friday, Sept. 18, if needed. Joel Street will be closed to through traffic during construction, with barricades restricting the road to local traffic only at Sheridan and McKinley and at Ann Arbor Trail. Residents with driveways on Joel are being asked to park temporarily on Sheridan.

All schedules are tentative. The city said they may shift due to weather, site conditions or contractor availability. Residents and motorists should watch for crews and expect temporary traffic impacts on affected streets throughout the week.

Part of a larger program

The work is part of Plymouth's 2026 Infrastructure Improvement Program, which began with curb repairs in late August on many of the same streets now being paved. The city posted its first construction update Aug. 28 on Facebook, listing curb work on Wing, Harding, Maple, Evergreen, William, Goldsmith and Ann Arbor Trail. By Aug. 30, flaggers were directing traffic on Ann Arbor Trail between Jenner Place and Joel as construction progressed.

City Manager Chris Porman described the city's broader budget philosophy in the June 2026 Plymouth Pulse newsletter: "We operate like a $30+ million business with a startup mindset—lean, efficient, and constantly adapting." The proposed budget identified Ann Arbor Trail, Mill Street, Joel Avenue and other locations for potential road and utility improvements.
