PWHL Detroit General Manager Manon Rheaume appeared in a podcast episode filmed at Fourgrounds coffee shop in Plymouth, published Sept. 16.

Rheaume appeared on WDIV Local 4 anchor Karen Drew's "Local Blend" podcast, published on ClickOnDetroit. The episode was taped at Fourgrounds, located at the corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Harvey Street.

Plymouth sits at the center of Michigan's hockey pipeline, home to USA Hockey Arena and the U.S. National Team Development Program.

Rheaume, 54, became the first woman to appear in an exhibition game in any of North America's four major professional sports leagues. On Sept. 23, 1992, she suited up as goaltender for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the St. Louis Blues, playing one period and allowing two goals on nine shots. She returned for a second preseason appearance against the Boston Bruins in 1993.

Rheaume also won gold medals at the 1992 and 1994 IIHF Women's World Championships and a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics.

The PWHL named Rheaume general manager of its Detroit expansion franchise on May 15. PWHL Detroit is one of four teams added for the league's 2026-27 season, joining Hamilton, Las Vegas and San Jose, according to the PWHL's official announcement.

The team has already made roster moves. Forward Hilary Knight was introduced at a press conference at Little Caesars Arena on Aug. 25, with Rheaume present, according to the Detroit Free Press. Other signed players include defenders Cayla Barnes and Hannah Bilka, forward Daryl Watts and goalie Andrea Brändli.

The team's official name has not been announced. Its colors are black and silver with a red accent, and its Instagram branding has featured automobile-themed phrases and the slogan "Let's get revved up!"

Season-ticket deposits have topped 6,000. Lower-bowl seats at Little Caesars Arena range from $30 per game behind the nets to $137 per game for Comerica Players Club seats along the neutral zone, per the Free Press.

Every game will air locally on WMYD-TV (Channel 20) and stream on the PWHL's YouTube channel and thePWHL.com. The league also struck its first season-long national TV deal with Scripps Sports, with ION carrying a Saturday Game of the Week and the Walter Cup Finals.

Training camp opens Nov. 18. PWHL Detroit plays preseason scrimmages Nov. 23 against Ottawa and Nov. 24 against Hamilton at Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster, Ontario. The first home game at Little Caesars Arena is expected in the Dec. 4-10 window.
